Rod Storage Ideas??

Featured Replies

Does anyone have creative rod storage ideas? I have 1 rod locker but it gets cluttered and I have issues with longer rods.

Thinking about some vertical holders on the console??

don't do it you will break more rods than you will want to replace.  If you fish longer rods you will break tips off on the vertical mounts.

Vertical rod holders work great until you start fishing around trees or other low hanging things - then they don't.  I have two rod storage plans.  One - when I fish by myself I lay the rods out on the deck and I try to stay organized and not step on any of them.  Rods that fall into the back up category or probably won't get used today get strapped onto the back deck.

Two - when I take some one fishing in my boat, I try to not bring so many rods.  Definitely no more than 20 total.  Of course, when I'm towing, all the fishing stuff locks up in the fishing truck.

Can you explain this tip breaking problem Snapperd1?

I have the same situation as you Linehand.  I put one of plastic, 4 tube, rod holders on the side of my console and it worked pretty well.  But one time I did rear back on a cast and snagged the upright rods.  Maybe that's what Snapperd1 is talking about.  I was pretty conscious of them after that though.

I just got a bunch of those Stick Jackets too. Just last week actually.  My boat is still in winter storage, but those should make using the rod locker, and sliding  rods under the front deck, a whole lot easier.

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I don't even own 20 rods lol. I did find a pic of a rod locker with tubes built into the front. If I do something like that I will post pics.

Rod socks my man. Have you seen the video of Shaw grigsby boat? If not check it out he has a lot of rods( 15-20) in 1 locker and even pulled one from the bottom with no problems. I have some homemade ones and they work extremely well.
