Owner Twistlock Frog Hooks

Featured Replies

Anyone out there tried these yet?

Seems pretty convenient to not have the frog sliding down the hook cast after cast.

If you have, how is the hookup ratio and are you satisfied with the product.

I use those, 4/O, with Zoom horny toads and Venom frogs.  I like the Venom frogs better.

I really like these hooks.  They're easy to use because they have that little pin in the middle of the screw to guide it.  They're sturdy and have a big enough gap to get through the plastic baits.  I use them when I trig 6" senkos and other bigger worms too.  They definitely prolong lure life.  It is so annoying to have to reposition the bait every time it drags through the heavy stuff.

As for hook ups, I have much better hook ups with the these than hollow bodied snag proof types.  The fish really hold the bait longer because the feel and taste is so real, this gives you time to get the swing you need to hook big fish in heavy cover.

I've also heard of people super glueing the heads of plastics on the hook.  I'm pretty sure there is even glue marketed for that very purpose.  I was seriously considering trying this before I found the owner hooks.

Wow this turned into a long write up all to say I really like these hooks and you should try them.

Used some for the first time today since that was all Academy had when I was in there.  Liked the hook, certainly don't like the price.  Not sure any hook is worth $1 each!

And now for the downside.

They will pick up weeds.

while your at the store, see if they have Owner 5/0 riggin hooks.

These are ultra wide gap hooks but the bend is curved rather than 90 degree. It makes a big difference in weedlessness.

That big 5/0 on a stout rod will go thorugh a horny toad or any solid body frog no problem, just skin hook it on the top.

You'r talkin about Avids #1 go to bait here, so believe me, I have tried at least 20 or thirty different types of hooks, lines, weights, etc.   This is the best for me.

good luck and have fun.
