Well, as I am taking these weekends to get my new boat ready for the MA cabin fever fishing event, I am starting to look at fish-finders.

I was lucky enough that back in November I acquired a $100 Newegg.com Giftcard, So I figured, what the hell, I'll get a fish finder.

I am torn between these two :

The other kink is that, I got my father a HumminBird 161c for our 18ft FourWinds for Christmas, and he suggested that I just get the cables for the 161 and the mount..and just use that. So would it be more viable just getting the cables and whatnot for the 161 or just get one of these? Opinions.

if it was within your price range, why not get the hummingbird 570 with DI in gray scale? its not as expensive as the color one, yet it is still high quality. some places have had them on sale for 200 before which is only a little bit more that the price for the ones you listed, if it was in your price range.

and while i feel it would be more economical to get the cables and share the 161c with your dad, focus on quality. i feel like even the ones you listed are a bit better quality than the 161c. but its all up to you. good luck! 

Get the Bird it has better resolution 320 x 320 vs. 128 x 128 for the Garmin.

I have been looking for the 570 with DI grayscale and cant seem to find a single one below $300? Can you point me in the right direction?
