  1. i totally agree with big-o. when it comes to soft plastics, i go with a green-pumpkin or anything similar. for hardbaits (spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, cranks, topwater) i go with a white or a white/ blue mix. something that is close to shad
  2. here ya go! this was the last time i ran the outboard on the boat. also, this is half power i think, only because for some reason, it wouldnt go to full power. im glad it didnt though because at half throttle it was bending the transom. because of this, im selling my boat. i need something that can at least handle a 3.3. also, i would like more room http://www.youtube.com/user/AllForHimMyGOD09?blend=3&ob=5
  3. 2.5 hp for the small boat. i have a 3.3 and its too much power for the boat, even though its rated for a 3.5
  4. how about a motorguide bulldog? transom mounted and foot controlled.
  5. found out something new with the pelicans. they dont do too well with large motors. the area around the metal transom plate began to bend when i put the motor at about half throttle and it was a merc 3.3hp. i went back to the dock and took everything but a life jacket out and tried it again and it was much better. i guess you cant have anything weighing down the front. has a decent size wake to it too when you get it goin. i should probably still do more tests with the motor and stuff before i come to a final consensus about whether or not gas outboards are good for these boats.
  6. i guess so but i just want to use the cheapest stuff that will make the engine run well as well as kind of clean it out
  7. What do you guys think is the best type of oil for a small outboard? I have a 2001 mercury 3.3 OB and I want to keep it running as nice as possible. will any oil that meets the SAE standards work well, or should i get synthetic oil like Pennzoil?
  8. any of you guys have an outboard on the back? would that be able to act as a rudder?
  9. dang that is a nice little set up you have there jbird. nice rig
  10. im thinkin about gettin one of these for my pelican bass raider 10e. what do you guys think? do any of you have any thoughts on motorguide compared to minnkota? im mainly thinking of getting it because of the function of it as it is foot controlled.
  11. i think that 8 or 9 hundred sounds good. maybe even 750 depending on the condition. try to make sure it comes with the manual and service records because those will be handy. i just picked up my 2001 3.3hp mercury for my pelican bassraider for 400. and it had a total of maybe 1-3 hours on it. start low and work your way up
  12. if it was within your price range, why not get the hummingbird 570 with DI in gray scale? its not as expensive as the color one, yet it is still high quality. some places have had them on sale for 200 before which is only a little bit more that the price for the ones you listed, if it was in your price range. and while i feel it would be more economical to get the cables and share the 161c with your dad, focus on quality. i feel like even the ones you listed are a bit better quality than the 161c. but its all up to you. good luck!
  13. what about bass team tackle? ya cant beat their prices i dont think. they are mainly terminal tackle too
  14. well i dont think its as much as needing to go fast as much as wanting to
  15. i think rick clunn talked about it a little bit in Bass Pros in season 2 and he or someone else said he uses a treble hook as a trailer hook
  16. pelican bass raider. 'nuff said ;D
  17. i wish they had all of strike kings line, not just some stuff from different categories
  18. looks pretty good, 25% off
  19. totally agree
  20. thats awesome! my buddy got to be a marshall for KVD last year at the SML blue ridge brawl
  21. i feel that i agree. i fished with my dad and he is not the most experienced guy at all, and it was kind of cramped, but overall, easy enough to do. the only other downside is the outboard motor size. i wish i could get an 8 or a 7hp on mine i saw on a youtube video that some guy had his bass raider TYPE BOAT that had the sides as rod lockers. it was pretty cool. it wasn't a pelican, but it was essentially the same style
  22. have you guys checked this unit out at all? im thinking about getting one for my little 10 foot boat. they look pretty good, and the DI seems to be a very nice addition. what do you guys think?
