Easy-dial centrifugal brake

Featured Replies

Pinnacle1, can you explain the braking system mentioned above? It seems to be only in the higher end reels? Is it safe to assume that the easy-dial centrifugal system is magnet free??

ShootermcBob:

Thanks for your recent post.  You are correct, our Easy-dial Centrifugal anti-backlash system is featured mostly on our upper-end baitcasting models.  This type of system does not incorporate any magnets (as do mag-control braking systems).  Instead, they feature a series of brake pins or more accurately "shoes" that push outward and rub against an internal ring within the sideplate to slow down spool rotation during the beginning of the cast (when the spool is rotating at its fastest speed).  This effectively prevents the spool from spinning too fast, keeping backlash in check.  The difference between Pinnacle's "Easy-dial" system and other centrifugal braking systems, is the ease and simplicity of turning the dial to a desired setting, as opposed to pushing out the individual pins manually to create the amount of braking power you want.  Both types of systems require that you remove the sideplate first to make adjustments, but this Easy-dial systems makes the adjustment process a breeze.   Hope this explanation helps answer your question.

Good Fishing!
