Who uses Tornado HH knot?

Featured Replies

Just started practicing tying this knot. I was using a Double pitzen, but as you all know, its not fun to tie out in the wild. So I have been looking for something to tie thats as strong if not stronger and easy to tie. I stumbled upon this knot look at the sunline web site. I tested it a few times and every single time I broke the line, the line itself broke...not the knot.

Anyone else use this knot? Any down sides? I notice the knot is LONG, so that may be its only down side.

Never heard of it until I saw it in another post.  I'm typically a palomar knot guy.  I'd be curious about the strength comparison.

Yea, its a newer knot. I haven't seen many people using it. I have been practicing it all day. Its still a little fumbles for me, but I will get it....only took me a little while to get the FG knot. I kinda think of this knot like that, where its "one towards you, one away". Fairly easy to tie, but just need to learn the finger dex to get it perfected.

How heavy is your flouro? Is this on a leader? I have been using the sd jam knot because i can tie that pretty well in 20-40lb flouro + as a jam knot it wastes much less leader vs the palomer knot.

i have never seen this knot before but it seems complicated and for light lines.

I use 15lb Fluorocarbon (Yo-Zuri T7) and 30lb braid on my baitcasters and 20lb braid to 12lb fluoro leader on my spinning rods.

Read about it today as a superior knot for fluorocarbon and hybrid line like Yozuri. Going to have to try it. I was only using 10# Yozuri hybrid and tying knots was definitely more difficult than with mono and braid ?

I'm really curious to hear about anyone's tests with impact/shock strength vs other knots. I feel like that's where flouro is particularly troublesome. Difficult to measure in pounds without a bunch of patience or a test rig, but head-to-head (two knots on one line, yank it, see who wins) should work fine.
