Platinum or Solene??

Featured Replies

I was at Wally world today and was looking at the selection of Pinnacle reels.  In particular, I was looking at the Platinum and, I believe, the Solene( it was an orangish color)  Other than the price, the Platinum was listed at $39, the Solene at $49, they seemed to be identical reels??  same capacity, gear ratio, etc. What exactly is the difference?  better parts?

Thanks for your recent post.  You are correct, the Pinnacle Solene and Platinum baitcasters feature similar designs, line capacities, features and components.  The only real difference is the number of bearings.  The Solene has 5 stainless steel ball bearings plus a roller bearing, whereas the Platinum has 4 SS bearings, plus a roller bearing.  For the money, both are excellent reels.  You can't go wrong with either one.

Good Fishing,
