New Lew's MACH Jacked Combo. Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Lew's is soon to put out their priciest combo to date, the "MACH Jacked"

Here's an article incase you don't know about them: https://www.lews.com/en/media/news/2023-press-releases/new-mach-jacked-combos

They seem to be pretty decent as far as combos go.

"...built with extremely lightweight Tanso Tech reel frames and HM50 rod blanks with Winn® DriTac Ultra ProWeave™ split grip rod handles and reel handle knobs..."

These rods are pretty comparible to the pre-existing Lew's TP1 Black rods, which are pretty decent rods. HM50 is also a pretty decent blank material. The TP1X is often used by High School Bass Teams in some tourneys and most user's seem to love it, and I know the TP1B is similar but made just a little better and has some more options than TP1X. So I'd argue to say the rod stands up to the price tag of a $260 combo by the description.

"...baitcast combos feature a premium 10bearing system with stainless steel double shielded ball bearings, a MultiSetting Brake system (MSB) with internally adjustable centrifugal braking pins and externally adjustable magnetic braking..."

Seems to have set of great quality ball bearings. The reel is similar to the Lew's KVD SLP and Lew's Tournament MP reels (which I believe also sport a MSB and 9+1BB), and would be around the same price too.

"...come available in five bassfocused, tournament level lengths and actions for avid anglers."

That sounds VERY promising. Compared to the usual MH/F or M/F we usually get from a combo, different styles to pick from could make it pretty great if you want to quickly fill out a boat with gear.

"...10bearing system, lightweight C40 carbon rotor with one piece bail, an extremely smooth drag system, and a new Comfort Plus ergonomic spinning reel seat..."

I'm not as acquainted with spinning as I am with LP Baitcasting, but that sounds decent as well. I'll let yall be the judge of that. MSRP for spinning is $250, so I'd hope its amazing.

Again sounds great to have a variety of options. If I would have to guess, probably a 7' ML/F, 6'6 M/F, and 7'M/F as those are pretty popular lengths and powers.

What do yall think about these new combos coming out?

Lews would really have to up their game for me to excited about anything they offer.   I have had many reels and several rods.   The reels just don’t hold up well.  The rods are hit or miss on sensitivity and  action.

Lol.

Lews has alot of great rods and reels . Plenty of stuff on the lower end, mid and top end ! Something for everyone basically. Their mid and top end stuff is just as good as shimano and daiwa.  With any brand you get what you pay for….. their rods Almost always  run a bit on the heavier side of their ratings or compared to other brands .
