Anyone ever been here?  Is this fishing as good as I have read, particularly from shore?

have not fished from the bank. yes it is as good as anywhere. this time of year as hot as it is morning is going to be best time. I love lake B. Great Lake all around. have a decent depth finder and you can find some pretty good offshore structure.my favorite lake to Carolina rig a tube. I use a flipping tube when C-rigged. other lakes are great also, you could spend a week there and not fish the same lake twice.

Is the water pretty dirty?

if it has been raining it will muddy up. but this time of year fish as deep as you can. always be aware of schoolers at anytime. it can make an ok day into a fantastic day. good luck.

There is only 3 or 4 lakes that you can shore fish from, if memory serves me correct. I fish from a kayak, so I don't know how good shore fishing for bass is. Some lakes have so much structure it takes awhile to figure out where the best areas are. Have had terrible days there and some of the best days there. The water can get really green with all this heat, being phosphate pits. Can't go wrong with black and blue or junebug.

I like to drag soft plastics like Crypt for best results.

I've fished there (from shore) a handful of times. Agree with @FLSTYak that the water can be very green. Fishing was OK, I had the most luck dragging trick worms across shallow shell beds.

What I remember most was the wildlife, especially the big gators and constant, dinosaur-like calls of limpkins. It's a very fertile system that supports a lot of life.
