Hey i just asked for a viento for christmas and im wondering what rod i should purchase to go with it.  I already have a st croix M/H fast action 6'6".  I was thinking maybe a 7' g-loomis or another st croix rod with a heavier action.   The g-loomis seems a little expensive but i might be able to swing it w/out having to buy the reel.  The Flipping stick GL-3 seems like a good buy and i was also looking at the st croix tourney series 7' 6" med /heavy. What do you guys think?

I have a G-loomis gl3 and I love it! You would do very well with either G-loomis, or the St. Croix..........another you might look at(this is what Rod I have for my Viento) is the Diawa light and tough series..........They are great rods as well and not quite as expensive..........

I think if it were between a gl3 and st. croix tournament rod i would go with the tourament.  I have both and think the croix with a viento would look sweet blue blank and blue reel.  

But a loomis imx and the st. croix tournament, go with the loomis.

I don't know what size baits you use most of the time but the 7'6" med/hvy is rated for lures in the 3/8-1 1/4.  If you are going to spend that kind of money on a rod just make sure you will be able to use it a lot.
