I’ve been watching some footage from the Bassmaster Elite Santee Cooper tournament this year and been learning some things. I heard Luke Palmer make a comment at some point that he had three rods rigged with the exact same bait. All Texas rigs, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16. Yum creature bait presented to fish around cypress trees using FFS, some fish spawners. 
 

This was surprising enough that I wanted to share. Three weights, all very similar, same bait. Luke said the heavier weight would allow him to shake and not move the bait as far.

 

Drew Cook in the event also had his baits fine-tuned. He also had three Texas rigs and used them each in different conditions.

It's hard to imagine 1/16 oz making that much of a difference around shallow cypress habitat, but if pressure's high, money's on the line, and deck space isn't limited, who knows.

 

As soon as I wrote that, I remembered that I'll occasionally switch between weightless kut tails and roboworms in the same habitat, just in case ROF makes a difference.

 

Maybe I'm just a hypocrite 🙂
