Minn Kota control issue

I have a 30 lb thrust Minn Kota that has recently started having issues with the speed controller. When put on 2 it is actually on 5, 4 is 2, etc. Has anyone had this problem and what was done to  fix it?

    Squirt some contact cleaner in the switch inside the handle.  Three screws under the cover.
