Replacing wading boots felt
When I was riding my dirtbike in the Sierras in CA, I carried a pair of old tennys with indoor-outdoor carpet glued on the soles, in my fly vest. And my rod, in an aluminum tube, across the handlebars. Caught many Golden Trout that way.

Susky weekend
There are bolt on skegs for trolling motors. Your slow day is like my regular day.

Getting through the transition from bank to kayak
One ate my buzzbait and I still have the blade with a tooth dent.

Slow day.
That's not what she says. After 55+ years she's just happy to see me do what I really love.

Slow day.
My buddy invited me to go fishing yesterday and my wife insisted I go. We left about 2 and fished until 8:15. Water temp was between 89 and 91 with the heat wave we are having. Lots of pleasure boats out and wakes galore. Up until 7 we only caught 1 fish each but after 7 we ended up with 7 total, he caught 4. I mostly used worms and he threw everything. Caught one on a choppo and the big one on a worm. He threw a Rock Crawler a bunch for naught and I did too. He broke a rod coming into the dock that I have to fix.

Check Your Auto-Inflate PFD!
Went to relieve myself and grabbed a tree by the bank, the boat floated away and I lost my balance and went in the water. I'm in my mid 80s and it was really tough getting back into the boat. My inflatable life vest inflated so I didn't drown. My wife said I can't go alone anymore and with my boat not in the water anymore I only go with another competent person.

Upsizing my worm hooks
Walmart has Brent Chapman Eagle Claw round bend offset worm hooks that I use. No complaints. 15 hooks for about $5.

Battling Line Twist On A Spinner.......??
Every cast or two I hold my rod upright as high as it'll go, with the lure out of the water, and let the spinning settle down.

Looking for advice for my boat
Like everyone else has pointed out, you probably don't have enough experience in your present boat to definitely know what you want in your next one.

Getting through the transition from bank to kayak
I only fish smallish rivers and use an 18" length of 3/8ths chain for an anchor. I have a carabiner on the front handle to run the anchor line through and a clam cleat to hold the line where I sit in the kayak. Easy and fast to deploy and weigh. The chain sits just above the water when it's weighed so it doesn't drag in the water. That should hold you enough to thoroughly fish a spot.

Shoes for small boats?
I like to go barefoot until it's too hot to work the trolling motor pedal, then sandals. I have a pair of water shoes my son gave me that I wear in the kayak. Forgot what brand but they've lasted for years.

Spike it?
I use JJs chartuese to dip the tail of the worm. Does it help? I caught plenty of bass without the JJs.

A Trip Report for pdxfisher!
They say trout live in pretty places but your bass do too.

End of a era…for me.
I have a boat sitting unused in my yard because I can't go by myself anymore and my friends would either take their boats or are too busy to fish or are late sleepers and the afternoons are too hot. Need to find some new friends.

Shelf-life for unused fishing line.
My test for mono is tie an overhand knot and pull it hard. If it breaks toss it.

Tough day.
My buddy called and invited me to fish yesterday. My wife had an opthamologist appointment that I was taking her to but she insisted I go fishing instead. We launched about 2 pm and fished until dark, it knocked me out but I lasted. I got the first bite, it jumped and got off, nice LM. I got the next bite when retrieving my worm a striper attacked. My buddy caught a nice bass on a rock crawler next. For the next several hours we didn't get a bite then he caught another nice, 2lb Alabama, bass and last a couple of smaller ones. I landed a 15 or 16" Alabama bass on a worm and that was it. Three bass and a striper for the two of us for 6+ hours of serious fishing.

A Good Father's Day!
Good report, thanks.

Landing Big Bass on a Kayak
I have an 18" section of 3/8ths chain on the front of my kayak for an anchor and drop it when I hookup a decent fish. It's easier for me to fight a fish from a stationary boat.

Upgraded my boat
According to what I've read that's the right stuff.

Finesse Open Thread...
We moved to GA from So Cal in '99 and finesse was the only way I knew how to bass fish. I met a guy I fish with today soon after we got here. He was a power fisherman while I wasn't and usually outfished him by a large margin. 6lb line 1/16 or 1/8oz bullet weights, a 1/0 hook with a Zoom Finesse worm was/is mostly what I use.

Carbon fiber drag washers
I bought a sheet of drag material and cut my own. Many times cheaper than store bought.

Bonafide XTR 130
For your current trailer you can extend the hitch as much as you want and move the kayak forward. Much cheaper that buying new.
