Saved the life of a fish with an anchor ⚓

Yes it's true.

Had a relatively nice bass wrap in submerged timber.

Sat there and tried to wait it out in hopes it freed itself.

The water was very clear and could see down where the fish layed upsidedown motionless pinned to the tree, probably 10 feet in depth.

I broke off and that didn't help so I grabbed the anchor and dropped it vertically into the tree and gave it a big heave and actually was able to break the limb the fish was pinned to.

Unhooked the fish and he darted off like nobody's business.

I'm betting that fish won't hit a worm the rest of the year. 😅

Good outcome though.

Reminds me of one of my first few bass on a spinnerbait, i almost had it right to the bank and it turned and jumped out of the water right next to a tree that fell into the water.

The line and bass got stuck on the part of the tree that was out of the water....

It looked like it was hovering in the air, couldnt get it unstuck, it was there for a minute and i didnt have a clue what to do. I got it unstuck and it swam away.

For some reason the bass think its a great idea to run towards trees with line attached to them!

Its like if a cow ran towards the butcher to get away from the farmer

Thanks, Bird, for taking the time to free the fish.
