What is a Loomis MBR 783 Slate Rod?

I have located a Loomis MBR783 Slate rod. It appears that it is a blank that the guy built the rod on. He claims it is like an IMX. Does onyone have info on this??

    G-Loomis MBR783 Slate= IMX graphite, 6'6" Med Heavy, Fast action 10-17lb line & 1/4-3/4oz lures. Factory rod retails for $235. A very nice rod indeed. I hope this helps.

    That just means it began it's life as an MB783 blank and not a finished rod.  But yes, slate blanks are IMX.

    MY advice.

    Do not a buy a custom built from an unknown builder.

    An unskilled rod builder can make a remarkably crappy rod from an outstanding blank.

    We have rodbuilders like reelmech and Alpster on the site.
