Cabelas vs. BPS Rods

Featured Replies

I would like to know if any of Cabelas rods compare to the BPS Extreme or Tourney Rods.  I have a Cabelas gift card and am wanting to get a 7 ft. med. action baitcasting rod.  The 2 rods I mention from BPS are all I can afford right now, so please no loomis or St. Croix please,,  as much as I would like to own one.

Thanks

I've never used a Cabela's rod.  If they construct them like the BPS rods I'm sure there's one in their lineup that's equivalent.

I have used the  BPS Extreme, which rocks and I also like the Cabela's Fish EagleII

Fishbear,

I have seven Cabela's XML rods (both spinning and casting) and they are the best rods by far between BPS (which I have many different rods from as well) and Cabelas.  They are very lightweight and sensitive.  The rod balancing kit (which I have on all seven) stay very secure (unlike the BPS one's) and is out of the way (doesn't stick out like those rubber end caps you slide over the end of your handle to balance your rod with).  One of my nephews stepped on the tip of one of my rods and broke the ceramic insert out of it.  I took the rod back to Cabelas and they told me to go pick out a new one and that was it.  Unbelievable customer service.  I don't think you can go wrong with one of them (just my humble opinion).

As said in the post right above mine, I've held the Cabelas XML's and they feel amazingly light and balanced for the price.  The Fish Eagle II is on par with the Extreme, and may be a little lighter.
