Fall Lake Ontario, slow bite

Hey fellas, 

Does the lake ontario bite always get super slow in late October??

Lake ontario around Wolf island, temps have dropped to 62, Oct 12. My last 2 trips have been very slow. I managed two over 5.40 last Saturday but not much today. 

I scoped 4 or 5 schools of bass today and caught 3.

10ft all the way out to 40ft,  got bites with Finesse jig and small swimbaits plus hanging a minnow. Bass would follow sometimes, not bite. 

Does the fall pick up? Or should I head down the St.lawrence towards Clayton. 

Any ideas?
