Water clarity will effect this, to many variables with each lake being different. Smallies are sight feeders, sunny with a light chop I find best, cloudy and windy marks the water up.

Hey fellas, Does the lake ontario bite always get super slow in late October?? Lake ontario around Wolf island, temps have dropped to 62, Oct 12. My last 2 trips have been very slow. I managed two over 5.40 last Saturday but not much today. I scoped 4 or 5 schools of bass today and caught 3. 10ft all the way out to 40ft, got bites with Finesse jig and small swimbaits plus hanging a minnow. Bass would follow sometimes, not bite. Does the fall pick up? Or should I head down the St.lawrence towards Clayton. Any ideas?

Do you use the remote or foot pedal when targeting Smallmouth? Debating on ordering a foot pedal. I fish mainly Lake Ontario , while 90% of the time, I'm fishing for Smallmouth bass. I recently got advanced gps terrova trolling motor with remote only. Thanks fellas.
