Questions from a 1st Time Fish Finder Purchase

Featured Replies

I'm probably out of line here so I apologize in advance.  However, I can't understand why you're willing to invest so much in electronics, yet fish out of a kayak from Dick's, that I have to assume you're paddling.   There are a lot of pedal powered kayaks out there from under $1000 up to $2500 that have accessories for mounting electronics.   An example:  https://www.hobie.com/au/en/kayaks/mirage-compass/

You should still have plenty of money to buy a good electronic set up.

No apologies needed.  The bodies of water I fish are very tough to get to....even with a wheel buddy configuration.

The Dicks boat is approx 35 or so lbs....and now I am adding the fish finder and battery that I will have to put in a knapsack of some sort.

I was just at Cabelas looking at the Old Town and Hobie boats and as nice as they were....there is now way I can walk that through some of the hiking type trails I walk to get to my spots.

I was looking at https://www.outcastboats.com/product/pac-1000-green-gray/     and even belly boats like they use out in Colorado and Montana before setting on the Dicks Kayak.

If you know of any other kayak in the 50lb or less category I would definitely be interested.

Out here in CT the larger lakes get destroyed with the large bass boat rigs for tournaments and of course the joy riders so I like my little hidden ponds where many have even an electronic motor restriction.

I just use a simple paddle. Hope that makes more sense why I am looking at a ZR1 Corvette engine that would go into a Pinto. ha
