Tough Pick

Featured Replies

Im saving up to buy 2 new reels. Ive picked out a BPS ltd round b.c. on a crankin' stick, and a BPS extreme on a Flipping model of a lightning stick. I read about BPS not being to good but I fish every other weekend at best except in the summer so they wont be used a whole lot. Just wondering if these are a good choice and if not what would be in the same price range. Thanks ;)

If I may.........I like all the BPS equipment you have picked out, and I even think the Lightning rods are a good rod for a low price. BUT if it were me I would get the BPS Extreme reel on a BPS Extreme rod, they put them together for a combo for $119........hard to beat what your getting for that price. If your buying the Extreme reel at full price ($79), and the Ligthing rod at full price (around $35-$40 last I knew) your in the same price range as the Extreme combo, and IMHO the Extreme is a better rod ( I actually have fished both the L.R. and the Extreme) As far as the other combo.......you won't be dissapointed int he cranking stick, I have a few and they are great, I really am unsure of the round reel your talking about. I fish regularly from April-Nov, and my BPS gear has stood up just fine.

I have 2 extreme rod and reel bps combos and they're REALLY good. They are very tough, and there is alot of sensitivity in these rods. I have a 7' MH that I use for crankin and it works just fine. My other one I use for jigging, they are amazing rods. I reccomend them  ;)

Looks like a decent reel.......just another suggestion to toss your way. Are you dead sey on getting a round reel? If not, and you have a BPS near by, it would pay to head over there. My store has 2006 Extreme low-profile reels on clearance for $45 to make room for the 07's. Thats a great price on a good reel.

I use this reel on my frog rod for fishing the slop and have been more then pleased.  Great reel with a very good casting distance.  I would recommend it.
