Other ways to use tube jig heads other than with tubes

Featured Replies

I have somehow accumulated quite the supply of tube jig heads.  Wondering what you all use these for other than rigging tubes?  One idea that comes to mind is using them for a heavier weighted whacky rig.  What other methods can they be useful for?  I am not talking about ball heads, but the longer tear drop shaped heads.

Are we talking plain old tube jigs, or the ones with a giant bend in them?

I think if small enough hooks they would do great for weighted wacky rigs.

Could also work for ned rigging bigger plastics?

Paddle tail swimbaits.

(of course for the 2nd and 3rd option you would just have to slide the plastic over the lead quite a bit)

Probably would also be great for T rigging Elaztech baits, just slide the bait completely over the lead and sandwich it in between that and the eye.

You could also just trim the lead down and make it more ball style shaped.

First off, you didn't hear this from me,

but I know at least one Mexican Guides who

takes a tube jig head and slide it up/into a Fluke type bait.

Line tie comes out about half inch back of the nose of the bait

and the hook pops right out the top.

Then they fish it like a tube.

Low & Slow - with plenty of 'drop time'
