Heeman Posted Thursday at 07:05 AM Posted Thursday at 07:05 AM Hi everyone, I’m looking for a two-piece or multi-piece swimbait rod. First of all, I apologize—my English is not very good because I am Korean and recently moved to the USA. When I was in Korea, I always used big swimbaits, mainly the DRT Klash 9 and Tiny Klash, which weigh 4 oz and 2 oz, respectively. My rods were the Tulala 73 Remix and 70 Remix, and I used 20–25 lb carbon line. My reels are Shimano Antares MD. I want to go fishing in Hawaii and on the mainland. I already have reels, but I don’t have rods, so I want to buy one. What rod would you recommend for me? I prefer a two-piece or multi-piece rod. Also, please let me know where I can buy that rod. So far, I have only used Amazon. Thanks for your help! 1 Quote
Solution Bigbox99 Posted Thursday at 12:49 PM Solution Posted Thursday at 12:49 PM There is a swimbait Valkyrie World Expedition travel rod. That's the only one that comes to mind. You can pay US retail at the hook up takcle or order from Japan with no warranty for a fraction of the price. 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted Thursday at 02:29 PM Super User Posted Thursday at 02:29 PM here's everything in inventory at JDM distributors https://fishingshop.kiwi/category/Rods/Casting-Rods/ If you filter Rod Sections (pcs) you can narrow the search to multipiece rods in current inventory. Since you already mentioned high-grade Tulala, I'd look at Transcendence, multipiece rods that assemble in multiple lengths. https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product-list/874 https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/5966 1 Quote
ABU is overpriced Posted Thursday at 02:37 PM Posted Thursday at 02:37 PM Had the Valkery Wold Expedition in 7.8', and it was a great rod. Currently using the Force 5 in 7.6' 5pc rod from Studio Composite, and its incredibly good (balance is the best i've tried from a big rod). I hear the Megabass Triza Dragoon is also great. On the cheaper side, there are a few JDM rods from Abu Garcia that seem decent for the price. Quote
Rockhopper Posted Thursday at 04:21 PM Posted Thursday at 04:21 PM For big sticks do not limit yourself to those marketed as bass rods. There are PLENTY of really really good two piece river salmon rods on the market that work extremely well for swimbait bass fishing. Look at the PNW companies specifically. Quote
