It sounds a lot like how we use unloaded Redfins here on the coast.  They dont cast worth a d**n into the wind, but when that bite is on, its got the wow factor of topwater bite, without having to work a pencil or bottleneck.

I have a few in Kentucky blue and whatever they call Table rock shad. They are nice in that you don't have to use the ol' Redfin recipe  of 2 suspend dots behind the joint and a feathered treble on the back and hope for the best .And, for the really brave, the cigarette lighter to the lip to bend it down. 

I've put a few in the trash behind that trick. Braid goes a long way in helping a so so Redfin run better.
