Personally , I've never have thrown a fluke that big. I would just throw a mag draft . Maybe things are different where you fish but I fish the standard size fluke weightless post spawn just like the ol' floatin' worm.
For me, A weightless fluke rod and a 10 inch worm rod are at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
You could fish the flukes on whatever jerkbait rod you have and the rest on a MH/H.
I've had it in the Legend Tournament variation and I agree with Fish Tank. They are stiff and quick.
Great draggin' rod but there are better choices for moving baits.
As far as versatility it's not in the same zip code as a 843. The Loomis is much more moderate and weaker in power.
If your looking for a Tatula for jigs and moving baits check out the Ehler all purpose. I have the AGS version but it's a great rod in either.
I've heard of folks putting the filler spool in the sink as they spool the reel. I personally don't think that mono has as much memory as flouro especially on a spinning reel.
A dose of reel snot would help but of course the ol' braid to leader eliminates memory on a spinning reel completely.
The age old debate. You should use whatever makes you happy. I have 16 rods in the boat now and none with mono but that's me. For topwater I can't see a reason not to use braid, there's just no downside, everything else gets flouro.
The 843/844 are some of the best that GLoomis, Now Loomis /Shimano has ever made.
I love The MBR actions. Just a great all purpose rod.
If you like a more moderate action like Falcon you should like the MBR. If you like a quicker action the JWR would be the way to go.
I believe Billy Kistler was part of castaway after all star was bought out. Like all star and Lews they are a older company with new ownership.
He owns Pride rods now .
That's a good choice. I like glass. Of course I remember when we used glass for jig and worms.
I've been using The AA Rebound for a while now and it's great.
I think so but it depends on the particular rod. I have a old Razr 7ft medium power rod that is my favorite wiggle wart /RK crawler rod. I'm sure it was intended for a top water rod or stick bait rod but for me the action is perfect.
When my boat got hit by the Tornado last July I was more worried about that rod than any NRX.
