I want a crank rod for a bait caster. I was set on buying the BPS Crankin Stick. But I am not sure.So what one would you buy of the ones I have listed?

BPS Crankin Stick=

Rick Clunn Signature XPS rod=

Quantum Kevin VanDam Sigature Series=

American Rodsmiths Divid Fritts Signature Series Crankin Stick=

I will use this rod for deep cranks and med. cranks on about 12lb. mono or Fluo. line. Not sure on the line yet as I am new to crankin. :-/ :-/ :-/

I would vote for the cranking stick, I have 2, a 7'M fpr diving baits, and a 6'6" M for lipless (Rat-L-Traps) and sub surface baits (mann's baby 1-, storm sub wart, shallow shad rap etc.........) Great price. I have handled the Rick Clunn CB rods, and IMHO the action was too fast for CB's.

I would probably go with the American Rodsmith's, mostly because David Fritts "the god of cranking" designed it.

I'm very pleased with my Crankin Stick, you can't find a better rod for the price.

Falcon

What about the Falcon Cara Reaction Series ($125) rods if they are in your price range.  Or a St. Croix Premier Crankbait rod ($90).  If not, I would go with the Clunn for the better components.

I have a BPS Crankin stick and it is a fine rod for the money.  I don't use it anymore but I never had any problems with it.

Thanks for all the help, it did help me to pick the rod. :o;):):(:)

After looking at the new steez rods and the associated reels, I know what my next purchase will be. I just don't expect it to happen any time soon.

But go to BPS and have them team you up a balanced set.  Unbelievable.

I have both the American Rodsmith and The BPS Crankin Stick.  I like the BPS better.

I use one of Rick Clunn rods for cranking. I bought the 7' medium power, worm/dropshot model, to use for lightly weighted or unweighted plastics, and to try drop-shotting. I discovered two things. One, I hate drop-shotting. For a number of reasons that are all off topic. Two, this rod has too soft a tip to be sensitive enough for plastics. It does make a very good crank rod, and that's what I use it for. They are on sale for $60 several times a year, and at that price, are hard to beat. Comfortable handle, good real seat, great guides, and a soft tip that loads easy. You can sling a crank as far as you need to with this rod. I've got it paired up with a Millionaire reel and 10lb test Silver Thread. This rig will handle any crankbait I have.

Cheers,

GK
