I read recently that a terrova needs to be recalibrated when the remote's batteries are changed. Any truth to this? I take the batteries out of the remote and store them to prevent corrosion during the winter.

No way.  The calibration is inside the chip in the head, not in the remote.  

 

Also, if you haven’t done it yet add the minn kota app to your phone as a backup remote.
