Wiring power cord for hook reveal 5 fish finder

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find out what parts and wire i need to put anderson connectors on my hook reveal 5 lowrance fish finder for my kayak. The power cord is 18 g wire and it comes with a fuse box that has 16g wire. I want to put anderson connectors on it with and also extened the cable by 3 ft. I'm going to plug it into a battery box with anderson 30a plugs on it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Why do you need 30 amp plugs for something that draws less than 3 amps? Connecting an 18 gauge wire to a connector made for much heavier wire is not a good choice.

I dont have electrical experience. I have a battery box that has anderson ports on it and they are 30a ports. So that's what I'm going off of. Do you have any recommendations on what anderson connector i should use ?

Please post a picture of the battery box.  It sounds like all you need is a small length of automotive wire, a few heat shrink butt connectors, and two heat shrink ring terminals.

We'll get you connected.

This is the battery box. I plan on running a lowrance fish finder and a aerator pump off it.  The aerator is currently using the terminals posts on the box. The box has three anderson ports on it. I'd like to be able to add the anderson connectors to the fish finder and the aerator pump. Any help is appreciated!

You don't need to get fancy.  Your Lowrance comes with a fuse holder.  Get the connectors I mentioned above and use ring terminals on the (+) & (-) posts.  Measure the post diameter, that'll tell you what size ring terminal you need.

If you have a Harbor Freight Tools near you, they'll have everything you need.  They'll also have some split loom you can dress the harness in.

I've never used Anderson Connectors, but if that's what you want to use, and can get them in 18 or 16 gauge, use them.  Use heat shrink connectors to ensure waterproof connections.

Can I connect the fish finder and the aerator pump to the battery box terminals together? The terminals on the battery box have a hole in them to put the wire and the top screws down.

Yes, as long as the fish finder & aerator have fuses on their (+) wires.
