I have this rod and reel combo I got second hand a while back and never used. Come to find out, it's missing the spool tension knob. I have very limited knowledge of bait casters. I've used them twice and discovered they have a high learning curve and immediately reverted to my spinning reels.

 

Not sure if the knob was missing when I got the combo, or if it fell off in the two odd years since I've had it.

 

Either way, does anyone know if I can order replacement parts for this somewhere? And can you tell if there's any mechanism that was held in there that is missing? 

 

Any help would be appreciated.

only the brake knob is a different part between '25 and '21 models.

p/n 45 above is an o-ring - if it's missing, that's why your knob cap came off:

older '17 model Black Max doesn't look correct - it doesn't have a retaining spring on the spool bearing, and has different washers.  

 

Abu is a Pure Fishing company, which means parts should be easy to get and cheap.  Shipping will cost more than the part.  If youre not sure what year it is, just get a couple different ones, one will fit.

Last time I bought one of these it was a few bucks.  It's $17 with shipping now.  I'd pass and just forget about it.

check for frame number on the foot, and see if it matches one of the schematics above.
