what the pro's use

Featured Replies

I know we have talked a lot about the pro's using other equipment and picking up to use or show thier sponsor's stuff (rods, reels, accessories) to the camera or public, but wouldnt that tick off the companies of the stuff they are really using. for example, if KVD was using a G-loomis dropshot rod an entire tournament, and then acted as though it was his signature series rod and showed his signature series rod to the camera, wouldnt loomis be mad about that? because in reality they are loosing out by him giving false info. just looking for opinions,

thanks

p.s I'm not saying KVD does this, I just used his name as an example for all fisherman

These guys are always going to give a shout out to all their sponsors and say they caught all the fish on a sponsors bait.  During the classic I did notice that a lot of the guys were using there signiture reels etc. probably because they knew this tournament was going to be covered completely by TV.  I feel like they wouldnt take on a sponsor unless they were going to use there product some of the time, but I am sure they use everything under the sun through out a tournament season. After all sponsorships is where everyone makes there money.  Skeet Reese makes over 500k a year in sponsorships.

If bagley will pay the guy he will talk all day about bagley.  They wouldn't feel shafted because they put nothing into the guy so why would you expect something out of the guy.

Bagley is lucky that people even know he was using bagley baits. when he won.

I agree 100%.

If a company pays me, then it is my job to mention the bait, rod, reel, etc, but if I am not

getting paid, I don't have to say anything about anything. If everyone advertised for these

companies for free, we wouldn't talking about sponsors and things of that nature because

there wouldn't be any.

After reading probably close to a thousand threads, articles, interviews etc with pro fisherman, I have come to the conclusion that getting sponsers is thier mission in life.

Let the wannabe pros be put on noticed.

pro fishing is NOT about fishing.  It's about marketing.

You may as well sell insurance and fish for pleasure.

You are right.

Most people would probably be a lot more successful if they did that, Avid.
