My local ponds

Featured Replies

Just thought I’d show them since most of you have heard me talk about them. All 5 are 3 minutes from my house.  About 5 years ago the local DNR stocked them with bass, bluegill, and crappie. They all fish a little different and have different size fish in them. But kinda cool to have so many so close.

That area is growing rapidly, don’t have to tell you that.

Never been there but my son has wrestled a couple of really good kids from there.  :)

Kinda thought you may know the area lol. Yeah it’s a really fast growing area. We are here for the school system or we would have picked a much less busy area. My kiddo loves it tho. Man wrestling is huge here lol!

Only tell your close and dear friends in your area. If you don't, you will regret it. I promise.

Good Fishing

Oh for sure. I’m new here. And everyone knows about them lol. They have walking trails around them. They are heavily pressured. But I still do decent

Yeah those are smack dab in the middle of one of the most rapidly growing areas in Iowa.

Have you tried the river yet over there?

Might have to try walleye fishing (please don't ban me).  :) :) :)

Yes it is lol! But if you use less common boats or colors. Ya can do really well. I’ve had 20 fish trips in 2 hours all 1.5-2 pound fish. And my pb is out of one of those ponds. 4 pounds.

ya know. I haven’t no idea how to even begin river fishing lol. But I see it’s super popular here!

I'd definitely be fishing that river if I lived there.

Rivers are just lakes with more current. 🤣

Hmmmmm I’ll have to look into it. Do ya fish the same style baits and stuff?

Sure could.

Throw a 3" swimbait/curly tail grub and you've got a chance of catching anything and everything.

If the picture is oriented with N at the top, that NE most pond looks like it has some potential.  If you get a N or NNW wind in the fall or just after ice out, it should stack the fish in the southern corner.

Yes it is. All of them have good fishing but that northern pond is my favorite. The northern end of it is the best fishing. I’ll definitely try that when spring comes!!!! The pond to the south below it is also very good numbers pond. But nothing huge in it. The next one down the chain my pb came out of this year. I got on 4 fish in 30 mins same spot 2.5-4 pounds.

they see a lot of local pressure. Weekends are pointless to me to go there can be a lot of people. But before work in the mornings or early on the weekend at 5-8am. I do well. It’s fun having them so close. I have some other places I fish always looking for new ones. But these are nice and convenient.
