dang wind!!  headed to a safer venue for my kayak and I.  my carefully tied Carolina rig and selectively curated choice of plastic will be useless.  hahah..

i feel a weighless senko kinda day coming up.

are your local lakes varied in bait presentations?   i'm headed to weed-ville.  i was headed to hard bottom rocky ville..but nope.

I have 3 pretty local lakes around me.

Roughly 10, 20, and 30 minutes away. None are big though. Biggest is probably 400 acres.

But yeah, they are all different.

been there, done that.  I usually have a pretty good feel 24 hours out where I'm going and can rig rods safely.  But the multispecies day was a good example. I was rigged for dragging rocks and fishing 5-25' deep.  Every bass caught was in 2' or less in flooded vegetation.  Somehow that 3/4 oz tungsten carolina rig wasn't looking so useful.  At the end of the day, rerigging isn't the biggest thing in the world.  Bringing a totally different set of rods is though.  That day I left my frog rod at home and put in a light crankbait rod.  That was a miss.  A kayak with limited rods just exascerbates that problem.

Normally, my choice of presentations/baits is the same for all the natural lakes I fish, but the wind affects them all the same, so the lake itself isn't considered in my decision making. Of course, I'm fishing from a boat, so wind isn't as big a factor for me. That being said, I'm sure your C-Rig would still catch some wherever you go.

Went out to Alligator Ally in the Everglades last week.  The east side of the glades are dangerously low with all ramps in horrible shape.  A friend tried to unload and his trailer dropped off the end of the concrete ramp.  Lots of exposed rocks even in the canal.

I moved locations further west of the Miami River and this area is at normal full pool.  No ramp problems here.  There must be a 4 foot difference in the levels from east(low) to west side (normal).  Be careful out there if you go, take time to study the ramp conditions.
