fenwick hmg

Featured Replies

anybody here use the fenwick hmg rods.  I bought one (7ft. Med.) at our boat show this weekend for $99 and I was really impressed with the weight and feel.  Just looking for some feedback from those who have used them.

The HMG is a workhorse of a rod.I still have a 6' medium pistol grip, I use for topwater baits, but had 2 more HMG carbon veil rods that I just got rid of a few months ago.The carbon veil rods are very sensitive feeling rods, I sort of wished I didn't sell them. :-/ Ivan

Have two HMG's, both MH.  One is 6'6" and the other is 7'.  I use these rods for throwing 1/8 and 1/4 oz swim jigs.  I am particularly sold on the 6'6" as it has (for me) the best blend of power and action for this technique.  Bought them in the early spring of last year and am very happy to date. With the exception of one G Loomis, all the rest of my rods are Falcons, but I will probably get another 6'6" HMG.

I've got an HMG spinning, 6'6" medium power and I like it very much. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I don't have the HMG, but I do have a Falcon GT and two Techna AV's.  I will only be buying Fenwick rods in the future, with the possible exception of a crankbait rod because I have not found a Fenwick that is specifically for cranks.

Fenwick makes a Fenglass rod that are fine if you want a soft glass crankin stick.

My partner fishes a 7 M HMX with a 5-1 curado for all of his cranks and loves it.
