Megabass p5 BMG

Featured Replies

To my understanding Megabass built this rod for Carolina rig/heavy football jig  dragging applications. Seems like some people like it for this kind of stuff but it also seems like its a sleeper 6” Magdraft rod, and big moving bait rod. I’ve heard people rave about it for Magdrafts and say they prefer it over the Mark-56 for the 6”.  If you own this rod I’m curious what you use it for?
If I was to get this one I’d primarily use it for 3/4oz preacher jigs, big swim jigs and other single hooked moving baits in open water to medium cover (milfoil & coontail). I could also see myself using it for magdrafts or 6” line throughs. Am I right in thinking that it would work well for these? Seems like it has a good mix between power action, being able to drive a jig hook in a long range but also load deep enough to keep fish pinned nicely.

I’d also want to throw big worms and football jigs on it.
I plan on using 40-50lb braid to leader.

My second question is about the sensitivity. I know Tackle Tour said that the sensitivity wasn’t awesome and wasn’t in NRX territory but NRX’s are $150 more. How does it compare to other rods in and around its price range? What about the GLX, or Poison Adrena?
Thanks!

Edit: Looks like I can’t get the used BMG that I was planning on anymore. I’m not going to buy a new one at full price.

Don’t have it but I do have the Mark 56.

Handles swimbaits extremely well.

Looking to increase my swimbait lure “collection” this fall.     :)
