Reel suggestion for Lew's Custom Pro 7'6" MF Ledge/Crankbait rod.

Rating is 1/8-5/8 oz.  Fishing from shore, so looking for long casts.  Will be using 8# mono or co-polymer.  Originally was going to put a Purple Alphas on it.  Maybe a Pixy.  However, I've been reading how the MGL spools make for long distance casting.  I have an SLX 71 MGL (would try this one) and Scorpion MGL 151HG that haven't seen line yet.

Will not be purchasing a new reel, but have a few others I could try should any suggestions by you guys be made for a reel I already have.  Is the Tournament Pro LFS a distance caster?  Another still in its box.

Probable won't be fishing anything lighter than a #5 Shad Rap although I do have a few lighter crankbaits that I might tie on for crappie or bluegills.

I hadn't considered the Black Max 1600C until now.  Probably not a distance caster, but handles light lures quite well.  Also does an excellent job in wind.

I'm afraid the braking on my SV105HSL may hinder long casts although it has a different inductor than stock to lessen braking force a bit.  I seem to prefer an Alphas over a Curado 51E....but my casting should be a little better than when I was using the 51E.

I have the SLX 71 MGL and use it on a 7’-0” medium powered rod mainly throwing 1/8 ounce mini max bladed jig and have zero issues with the distance also from the shore. Mine is spooled with 10 pound Suffix Advance Monofilament. I’ve also used both a Daiwa Tatula 80 spooled with 10 pound Seaguar Basix with a 1/4 ounce square bill and zero issues also. I also have a Alphas 800 SV TW and I don’t think you’ll have any issues with any of the reels you mentioned.

As much as I love my Alphas reels, I think I will start with the SLX 71 MGL.  Hopefully that's the reel that will stay on the rod.

Lews LFS Tournament Pro is a very good reel. I don’t think I would use the one I have on a  hardbait under 3/8 oz. Texas worm and 1/4oz sinker, yes.
