Tectan Premium Plus Mono

Featured Replies

A fishing friend gave me some Tectan Premium Plus Mono to try for my deep-diving crankbait set-up.  I have broken-off lots of other lines (Berkley Big Game, Spiderline Mono, Daiwa Supreme, etc.) with my deep-diving crankbaits except for my trusted Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft.  I tried the Tectan because of the small diameter (0.28 mm for 15.8 lb test) which I need for my deep-divers.  It performed quite well by landing a couple of 2+ pounders and lots of 1+ pounders.  However, this was just one day fishing and I was wondering if others who have used this line have any comments on its performance in the long run.

note:  I still use the Yo-zuri for my t-rig, drop-shot and light crankbait set-ups.  I find that they are really superior in strength.

I used it almost exclusively for 3 years now for walleye and steelhead. It feels like an XT line with lower diameter. LOVE IT !!! It's a bit stiff in cold weather ( like under 50*), nothing major, though. I fished it in the winter for steelhead, and the stiffness was not bothering me.

And any mono becomes stiffer as the temperature drops, so...

Give it a try !

I also use P-Line CX and fuoroclear.
