Wrapping Rod Handles

Featured Replies

I was wondering if any of you guys wrap your rod handles and if so, what type of wrap do you use?

I purchased several G Loomis rods and I wanted to wrap the handles for several reasons.  I wanted to protect the cork and I wanted a better grip if it rains.  Also, the balance point of the rod is a couple of inches in front of the reel and I thought just adding the wrap would produce enough weight to move the balance point closer to the reel.  I don't know if my above reasons are achieved by wrapping the handles, but please let me know in your experience what the benefits and negatives are.  Thanks.

I dont use a wrap i use a thing called get a grip for tennis rackets come in diff colors and are one piece all u do is put it on inside out and no wrapping works good no glue !!

Every rod I have has Rod Wrap on it............I love the feel more than anything but it also protects the cork handles........this may sound funny but I also keep rods organized with rod wrap as well......Smallie rods have yellow, worm rods have blue, etc................Make things much easier when picking up a rod to fish with............ ;D

I wrap my Loomis sticks, but my Steez rods obviously don't need it.  The colored foregrip covers are made from special order extra-large diameter heat shrink tubing.

I use Rod Wraps (http://www.betterwaysproducts.com/index_home.html) on all my baitcasting rods. Not so much to protect the cork, but it gives you a much better grip especially when wet. I think BassPro has them but their web site keeps being down everytime I try to go there.

I have used the tennis wraps and they are better than cork, but while cheaper, they don't hold up as well as Rod Wraps IMHO.
