Cork Cleaning

Featured Replies

I'm sure this topic has been covered but I cant find it. What do you recommend to get the best results when cleaning your cork handles.  Thanks in advance.

Krud Kutter, Simple Green, Oxy Clean, or soap and water and of course a brush.

I just recently tried Mr Clean Magic Eraser and instead of water I used rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol.  Made the cork look and feel like new.  Cut through all the greese and gunk.  I used the same thing for my pool cues and decided to try it on my cork fishing rods.   I will never go back to anything else.  ReelMech also recommended some cork sealant.  That is my next step.

Mild dish detergent and a Scotch Brite pad. Rinse well and they look like new again. ;)

Saw a tip in Bass'in magazine that said to seal cork grips, spray them with Armour All.  Said to use 2 coats and buff lightly waith fine sandpaper after each coat.  Haven't tried it, just passing it on.
