Megabass IXI Blowly

Featured Replies

Its been a bit since I last fished it, but its pretty much a 1ft or maybe a bit deeper squarebill depending on what lb line you are using. If I remember right it has quite the wobble too. Should catch fish though.

Heard about it being a replacement for the baby 1 minus, that’s kind of what I was hoping for.

Does it rattle or is it silent?

I'm starting to prefer silent baits.

Silent, supposed to have a killer wobble though like torm mentioned. Megabass claims the strong wobble allows it to get bites in open water. Looks like a fun bait and cool concept if nothing else.

Thanks, might have to try it.

The pumpkin seed color looks pretty cool.

I don't know if it would replace the manns baby 1 minus completly. I still think it dives just a tad bit deeper than that one, if I recalled right as I was using 30lb braid to 10lb fluoro leader. Still shallower than the traditional square bills though. I'm sure you can get it to run shallower with a higher lb line or with mono as well.

I fished these baits extensively last year. They are not a replacement for the Baby 1 Minus. They run from about 1 to 3 feet deep, depending on if you hold your rod tip up or down. What makes these so good is that you can burn them as fast as possible, and they maintain their depth and posture. They are great for fishing over grass beds and shallow flats. However, they are not very good if you run them into the grass. Grass tends to hang between the lip and hook tie; if you hit grass, that's most likely the end of that cast. I fished them using a burn-pause pattern, and most strikes came on the pause. They were also good for bass chasing shad on the surface. You can often see them, but they won't hit topwaters. All in all, they are a great bait that produced really well for me.
