scale question

Featured Replies

i bought a new rapala 15lb digital scale the other day from academy...i think it was 13 bucks..anyway i put a new battery in it and hung a 2lb dumbell from it...it tells me it weighs 2 ounces....is there something i need to do to calibrate it?  there was no instructions in the package or anything....it has the chain and hook and a grey button on the top...seems to me the gey button resets the scale back to zero when pressed....havent caught a fish to weigh yet but i figured the thing would at least be close to 2lbs with the dumbell on it...any help is much appreciated

thanks

I tried 2 of those and 2 Berkleys none of them worked worth a darn.

I'd take it back to Academy. I wouldn't trust a two-pound dumbbell to weigh exactly that, but it certainly doesn't weigh two ounces. These scales can't be calibrated to the best of my knowledge. My preference for checking scales is to weigh stuff that has already been weighed on certified scales at the supermarket.

P.S. Look again for some instructions; I never heard of a scale that comes with none, either Rapala or Berkley.

hold the button on it down til it clears out

and goes to all zero's before using...

just a thought.
