Woman Lake, MN

Featured Replies

Anyone ever fish this lake?

I just got out of a meeting with some clients who have a place on this lake and offered me a "come up anytime" offer.

THANKS

I fished Woman Lake end of May last year. Water is clear, smallmouth were on beds. It was a sight fishing bonanza, lots of fish, biggest right around 5 pounds. Also largemouth to 3 pounds in the weeds. It was a fun few days, but I have to say the fish were pretty beat up and I started to feel bad for continuing to mess with them. Lake has tons of structure, I hear the fishing gets much tougher later in the year but I have never tried.

Thanks for the info.

They did say the water was pretty clear which can make it tough.

A fun lake, with some quality smallmouth… that said it’s not an automatic. Gets a lot of pressure, so avoid tournament weeks.

If you can find the rock/rubble areas, you should be able to locate the smallmouth. Just west of the one large island on the lake is a large flat with chunk rocks everywhere. During the spawn and post-spawn tends to be a hot spot.

One of the other areas I have caught some bigguns is off a small point in the rubble area in I think 15 fow. See map. Football jig, Neds, Carolina rigs, etc.
