Nitro latch help

Featured Replies

I was driving home and realized I forgot to latch the console. It blew open, and the lid screw came out. I put the screw back in and tightened it, but it looks like it pulled completely out of the fiberglass.

Right now, it stays in place when it’s latched, but it pops open when it’s not.

What’s the best way to properly secure this back into the fiberglass?

The photo is too small and blurry to see. I had a Boston whaler that had the same thing happen. I got some marine epoxy putty, mixed it and jammed it as far into the screw hole as I could and smoothed it flat. After it had cured I tapped the hole and refastened. If you lost the screw, make sure you replace it with a stainless steel one.

A couple of toothpicks in the hole then the screw should do a temporary repair. If you can get to the underneath side a bolt and lock nut mig do the trick.
