Exsence B…which one?

Featured Replies

I’m looking to pick up an Exsence B spinning reel, I will pair it with the Okuma Bass x 7ft ML, it’s going to be for Ned’s , Neko rigs and other finesse presentations. Not sure if I should go with the 2500 or the C3000. The 2500 is 6.4 with 37 ipt and has a deeper spool, the c3000 is 5.8 with 34 ipt and has a more shallow spool, I’m assuming I will get better torque on the 5.8 and I think the shallow spool still holds enough 10lb braid to not be an issue. For neko rigs am losing out by having 34 ipt vs 37? Right now I’m leaning towards the c3000, but looking to hear opinions on why I should get the 2500 or is the c3000 they way to go. Thanks in advance.

Even shallow spools will hold plenty of 10 lbs braid. Theoretically the slightly larger spool of a 3000 size will put less twist in the line and cast further.

Shimano's USDM line capacity ratings are . . . . confusing. It says that they hold the exact same amount of 10 lbs braid, but differing amounts of larger braid sizes. The 'mono' ratings are even weirder. They claim that the 2500 holds 140 yards of 8 lbs mono, and the 3000 holds 110 yards of the same line.

Digitaka doesn't list them as having shallow spools available. The spools look to be semi-shallow (not deep). The JDM spools definitely look shallower than the USDM versions in pics.

And I thought Daiwa's line capacity ratings were strange.

They're only 0.2 ounces different in weight and the 3000 has the compact body. If I couldn't handle them before buying, it would be a coin toss as the specs don't reveal much to me.

Exsence is C3000MHG - this is the no-brainer mid-frame Shimano choice, fishing finesse to beast.

I'm going with the C3000, thanks for the input.
