applying line to a spinner

Featured Replies

is there a tool i can buy to attach my spool to a cordless drill? the spooling station i have works great on baitcasters, but for spinning reels the line goes on twisted. there is a bait and tackle shop by my house that will put line on your spools for 5 bucks, but there has to be a way to do it yourself. please help.

Heres the way I was told to put line on a spinning reel. Look at your reel when you turn the handle. If the reel spins clockwise the line must come of the spool counter clockwise.

It's very simple to do it yourself.

Just tie a clinch knot onto the spool and make sure the bale is open.

Once you tie the knot onto your spool close the bale.

Leave your bulk line on the floor and then start reeling your reel.

(i recommend you hold your line by the first eye of the rod so the line can go on tight.)

its simple, its free, and it can be fun

Good Luck

i would recommend that you leave the line in the box it came in. I would also use a big super ball or something very rbbery that you can cut a slot into so you can run you line through it. Tis will take probably two people to do it right but hey it will be bonding time. Running it throug a ball takes alot of twists out of the line to help with birdsnests.

GOD BLESS!!

click the link on this one i have it and it works great on both spinning and casting. bps has it on sale now for around 20 smacks.

Lay your supply spool on the floor such that the line comes off clockwise and you should be OK.

What type of reel is it? I do know that with the Shimano Symetre, and this is what I love about it, I can add line to the spool directly as if it were a baitcaster. I was shocked to read that in the owner's manual. I would imagine that her more expensive sisters would also possess that trait and probably other reels from other manufacturers at that price point.

I also use a big book like the yellow pages or my BPS catalog to aid in keeping tension on the line while spooling.

If the reel spins clockwise the line must come of the spool counter clockwise.

Confusing, which is it clockwise or counterclockwise?
