spinning rod for pitchin, flippen & carolina

Featured Replies

Need some input.I cast baitcasters with my left hand & spinning rods with my right hand.cant cast bait casters with my right have tried it to many times.

Problem I have is that the fingers on my left have start going numb after many hours casting a flippin stick. So I was thinking about getting a heavy duty spinning rod for these duties,Does anyone have any suggestions as to brand ,length, lure weight.price,I dont get to go enough to justify a high priced rod.

Thanks for your time & reading.

Well, I'll be darned...are you ambidexterous? That's a new one on me. I've heard of reeling with different hands  :-?, but never casting. St. Croix has a 7' heavy power spinning rod in the Premier series you might want to check out, list price is $120 PS70MF. Hope this helps.

Thanks Hot N Tot for the info.yeah I'am both handed, when I was young I could pitch a ball with both hands.left being faster and more accurate. when I got my first spinning outfit the handle was on the left so I just used my right hand to cast it.When I got my first bait caster outfit the handle was on the right side of reel so casting with my left hand was natural.I never could understand the guys who would cast with their right hand then change hands to reel.Well now you know more about me then you ever wanted to.Thanks

You'll be hardpressed to find a spinning rod to feel like you are used to for flippin... but you could have a custom spinning flippin stick made on a true flippin blank.  As long as you didn't want many decorative extras ("stealth") it wouldn't cost as much as you think.

Even better... if you can build it, you are going to spend much less still.  Let us know if you have any questions along the way, and if you don't still post your progress with pics in the tacklemaking section!!
