Chandler, Az bass club?

Featured Replies

I'll be moving to Chandler, Az next month. I did a Google search for a bass club in or near Chandler but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know of a bass club in this area?

Clubs aren’t as big around here as they used to be, but there’s still some good ones.

Off the top of my head, there’s:

Phoenix Bassmasters

Canyon State Bass Club

Roostertales

Midweek bass

And there’s a handful of BASS and TBF affiliated still out there.

There’s quite a few independent tournament series as well.

oh man, I lived down there for about 6 months

I had a real hard time fishing there as a New Englander in a yak

if you're a boat guy, I'm sure you'll have better luck

and man, it's really beautiful in a blasted Mars sort of way

There’s a couple of kayak clubs in the valley as well, they have some big events on Roosevelt.

Thanks for your replies and advice, ElGuapo and JG. Currently, I have no no watercraft of any type, so I'll be relegated to fishing from the bank when I get there next month.

ElGuapo, I'll definitely be looking into the clubs you mentioned. Thanks for the list of groups you provided.

JG,

I grew up in Indiana, so I can understand how someone not familiar with how to fish in the Southwest would find it challenging: nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to fish for bass in a warm weather climate. I'm hoping to beat my pb (5-6 lb) once I get there. In the photo you posted in your reply, is that the Gila River, Salt River, or a different one? Did you fish it for bass and if so, do you have any advice about which techniques and gear worked best for you?

Thanks you guys,

Matt

For beating the bank, a lot of the “Urban Fishing Program” lakes and ponds around the Valley have decent bass populations, always worth checking out. Saguaro Lake and Canyon Lake have decent bank access spots, Roosevelt does when water is low.

When you get settled in, I’ve usually got an open backseat if you want to hit Rosey.

Thanks for the info and invite, ElGuapo! Once settled and I have a source of income, I would definitely like to take you up on your offer to go fishing with you. I'll chip in for gas a buy you a meal before or after (your choice) our trip on the water.
