Has any body used the kistler magnesium rod? I went to cabelas today, and picked it up and was amazed...(i also picked up the helium, but thats out of my price range...lol) Anybody have any reviews/thoughts on this rod... I am really considering getting it.

I have no experience, but the guys at Tackletour seem impressed.

I was pretty humbled to find out that certain reels are loose in Magnesium reel seats.  However, after trying those reels on my Magnesiums I wasn't bothered.  Aside from the reel seat issues, the rods are awesome.  I have a few Heliums LTAs but will probably only buy Magnesiums from now on unless I decide to give the LTXs a try.

Funny you mention that gopher, I had one lasst year, right up to the point where I kicked it overboard.  I never could get the real seat adj tight enough.  I laid a small piece of cloth under the reel foot and that helped it sink just fine.  

Fantastic action and sensiitivity.  I have since learned however, that for another $20-$50, you can have a rod custom made specifically for your tastes.

I got the 6'9 all purpose rod for Christmas and I love it. Its the lightest and most sensitive rod I've ever fished. I've got it matched with a Plueger Supreme and it seats perfectly. Its primarily become my spinnerbait rod because I can feel every turn of the blade. You wont be disappointed if you pick one up!

Just make sure you don't get one from the original (1st) run last year, there were clear coat issues (peeling via air bubbles)  They don't form till it's been out a few times.  Mine that I kicked overboard had just been replaced 2 days before.  Cork wasn't even dirty yet.

how do i know which one is the original and which one is the good one?
