I just purchased a Calcutta 51 (Japanese model with 8 bearings) What rod would you recommend to match this reel? $150 range.

    Those 50's are sweet little reels.  Would make a great jerk bait reel.  Go medium action. at best.

    I wanted something to throw smaller lures on lite line. Water can be  very clear here and I'm hoping smaller presentations will be an advantage when the fish are easily spooked...
