  1. Spankey try slowing down with a small trick worm or tube or even a small jig .. remember pre spawn fish tend to be slower . Work the shallows really good and slow.. any banks with pebbles or small rocks mixed with big rock are always my first targets.. you don't have to see a bed to catch a bedding bass .. not to mention you may catch em before they even reach a bed .. if u need to catch em on a crank try a jerk bait but again slow that thing down .. long pauses .. hang in there .: it's all water time .. learning and learning and learning .. tight lines get on em Crest .. yes they fight like hell .. best bite going .. it was a blast but now I'm antisapting that summer smallmouth bite ,, you know the one .. wen they jerk the rod outta ur hand ?.. that one can't wait .. I love fishing Wisconsin we have so many good smallmouth waters and largemouth too .:
  2. Ok so yesterday a small crew of us went two hours north for some fishing in the woods .. it was me my two sons and my buddy Shawn .. the challenge was to catch a north woods bass 20 inches or bigger / 4 pounds or more .. we were fishing waters that hold large and smallmouth bass .. also these waters are known to hold giants for Wisconsin ( over 5 pounds ) the weather was horrible wind and rain not to mention it was cold .. this was a challenge none the less .. So long story short .. we didnt get the challenge.. missed the length by one inch , the weight by 1/2 pound .. ? But hey we caught a nice mixed bag of bass .. till the next one ☝? tight lines .
  3. Ok so there is a severe cold front coming in .. yesterday it was in the 80s now we are sitting at 53 .. tonight it's supposed to get down to 35 degrees.. the wind was atrocious.. not what you would call a perfect day for fishing.. I went any way .. we managed a few dinks in this small lake a mile from my house .. so after fishing through a few baits .. I grabbed my go to jig and trailer.. Boom fish on ,, not to mention the biggest bass I caught outta this small lake .. it weighed in at 4 lbs and was tugging like a tank !!
  4. I'm gonna take a stab at a few bass .. I have a small pond lake that has been good to me .. no size yet but I'm willing to bet the bass are bedding up .. hopefully I can catch a giant today .. I'm in Wisconsin by the way .. will keep you guys updated.
  5. Daiwa balistic 3000 . It's a amazing reel .. I love the wide spool .. I use suffix 832 10lb braid .. the casting is awesome,, no wind knots and killer distance on my cast ..
  6. A zoom trick worm the smaller one Texas rigged on a 2 ot ewg with a quarter oz tungsten bullet .. they were crushing that worm ..
  7. Today I had a few hours to walk the river .. my buddy and I got into a few river smallmouth .. some bed fish !!
  8. Nice bass .. where were you fishing ??
  9. Idk I'm using the avid x 7 med-hev mod fast .. love it so far .. awesome square bill rod
  10. Well today was the bass opener .. I went out for a days fishing .. it was windy almost too windy to fish .. I'm sure the fish were there but just couldn't get on a solid pattern .. I also stopped at another lake before calling it a day .. it was still choppy waters lots of wind .. I grabbed my crank stick tied on a square bill and went to work .. I ended up missing 2 and catching 3 my two sons managed a few all in a matter of 30 minutes.. so all in all not a great day but there is no better feeling then a crank bait bite in the spring... ?
  11. Well I have a 7 foot med fast mojo bass rod for basic smally fishing.. I want this rod for super finess fishin .. so Ima get the 7ft6 med-lite fast .. also I believe Ima get the 7ft1 med hev fast for tubes .. be nice to crack em get a solid hook set with that tube .. also I'll have my spinning rods covered .. other than that I may get a small lite rod for brook trout.. I'd like to catch a few Brookies with my son .
  12. Alright Ima go with the 7ft6 med-lite fast !! It should help my cast distance..also the drag on the ballistic is silky smooth ..
  13. I may have to give that a try .. I haven't ever went med-lite on any of my spinning rods .. nice bass man !! Where do you fish ??? I'm in Green Bay I walk a few rivers this way the red river , Menominee river great small mouth rivers also the oconto river .. we should meet up and walk a river ,, that would be a blast As for the rod .. I plan on fishing the sturgeon Bay open bass tournament. So this rod will have to deal with some Great Lake smallys ( giants ) .. I know guys catch quiet a few over 6 lbs and a few years back a guy pulled one in over 8
  14. I may have to give that a try .. I haven't ever went med-lite on any of my spinning rods .. nice bass man !!
  15. I may have to give that a try .. I haven't ever went med-lite on any of my spinning rods ..
  16. Idk I guess i feel under powered ??
  17. Well I will run a 3000 Daiwa ballistic. I like that reel I spool 8-10lb hivis suffix 832 braid and use a 4-5 ft flour leader 8lb sunline .. as for the rod I'm looking at the st croix legend extreme ( 7ft6 med fast ) I would like this rod to toss hair jigs , tubes , any smaller lures .. also I will use this rod as a back up to my 7ft med fast rod .. I don't wanna go any lighter than med .. but I'm just seeing what people here do ..
  18. I'm thinking bout getting a 7ft6 med fast spinning rod for smallys.. I think the extra tip will help me cast those ultra lite lures and keep a big one pinned .. what are your thoughts??
  19. Nice !!! We are iced over for the winter ,, wish I could get out there ..
  20. Tubes tubes tubes .. fish slow but cover water .. you don't need a fish finder to catch them ,, become the fish finder with that tube .. once you get a few bites your on them .. but remember they move day to day and sometimes by the hour ..
  21. I'd try fishing some shallow water with rocks .. 4ft to 8 look for rock banks with good drop offs .. Or rock humps .. I just think u may be fishing too deep
  22. Nice fish !!
  23. Throw back packers lol
  24. Swimbait 3.5 inch reaction innovation
