  2. Caught this girl In a local river
  3. My smally rod is complete .. I have the mojo bass 7f1 med fast rod and mounted to that is a Diawa ballistic 3000 .. For line I'm running 10 lb suffex 832 neon green braid with a 4 ft flour leader 8 lb seaugers red label .. I'm using a Albright knot to connect braid to leader .. Made a few casts last night omg it is sweet !!!! Also got my son mojo 6f8 med xfast rod !! He won't get the rod till the 22 !!
  4. no he has his own setup .. But his birthday is on the 24th .. I'm getting him the mojo wacky rod .. It's 6ft8 med extra fast .. I think it will be perfect for him ..then I'll try and find him a cheaper reel for that rod but a better reel than what he has .. But the mojo rods are a great value for 100 bucks .. Built on a avid blank .. Just have to get passed that d**n purple blank lol Yeah Ima try and get him a better reel .. But right now I think the rod is a better investment ..

  6. So I've really been trying to learn about smallmouth .. I have been catching them in many different local rivers .. However I'm still dialing in my set up .. At season open I got a cheap spinning rod ,, I wanted to bring my son to the river .. Right away we started catching them .. The pics are my boy !! Anyway after one week of use from me the rod was doa ... So cabbellas gave me a in store credit for the price of the crap rod .. I just bit the bullet and payed the difference for a mojo bass 71 med fast spinning rod and wow what a difference . I couldn't be happier with this rod .. That being said I need a reel for said rod . Currently I have a 20 dollar Diawa reel lol .. But after much reading reviews I went ahead and ordered a Diawa ballistic 3000 .. I can't wait to feel this set up when I finally put it together .. As for line I'm running 6 lb braid with a 8lb flour leader 4 ft .. I've been fishing 4 inch senkos and tubes . It's been a great year so far , couldn't be happier with my son really wanting to fish every day , we really enjoy our trips to the river .. It's really awsome !! Let me know what u guys are using for spinning set up , line , baits
  7. We caught a bunch .. I caught 20 and my buddy caught 10 .. Nothing big .. The biggest where 16 inch but fun none the less .. Also hooked a pike ?.. That sucker didn't wanna give my tube back !!
  8. ok so ive been really trying to get after the smallmouth this year . i know how to catch largemouth pretty good here .. but i live in a state almost govern by smallmouth .. i live 10 mins from Green Bay WI .. 45 away from Sturgeon bay .. world class smallmouth .. but anyway today ill be walking a local river ,, trying to get some huge river smallmouth .. cant wait .. ill post pics if i can manage a few ..
  9. vid has been updated its much better http://youtu.be/9Q9-SJCcwCI try this one out ... MUCH BETTER
  10. sorry there is a bit of a grey area there ... all i can say is i picked these up for around 130 on oakleys vault website ... hope that helps ya out ..
  11. no i dont think they used different materials in the angling line .. but they do offer different shades of polar lenses ,, more geared tward anging .. weather it be ocean fishing or fresh water ..
  12. Hey guys the video in this post really sucked ,, so i made a better one of the same glasses /// ill be switching them out today sometime just a heads up .. sorry for the poor vid ..
  13. yea you may be right .. im not trying to diss him .. like i said i have followed him for quiet a while .. i was really excited to see him and get a chance to talk to him .. idk maybe just having a bad day ..
  14. i got a chance to meet Rick and get a picture with him .. This guy is a bass fishing legend . That being said the guy is a real stick in the mud .. I've seen some of the cats in the sport that loose their swagger .. they loose that excitement ,, its almost painfull to watch em fish .. thats Rick ,, im sorry i dont wanna say it .. ive watched him on bassmasters and followed him through the years ... but after meeting him ,, there is no part of me that even cares about Rick anymore .. Maybe he was just having a bad day IDK ,, but thats how he looks before he heads out on the water for a day of fishing ... If thats what tourney fishing does to ya ,, i dont want none ..
  15. have you tried a mattlures baby bass ??? i just ask because it is a small swimbait but man the bass will crush it ..
  16. my only comment would be to throw them ... if you go fishing just bring a swimbait rod and keep chucking that thing .. we dont get bass that big here in WI .. but i have had some luck with swimbaits .. but I've learned you really have to just throw and throw these things to get bit .. when i 1st used them i would make a few casts maybe 20 or so then i would put the rod down (if i didn't get bite right away ) .. cant do that ..
  17. good stuff guys .. i really think oakleys are looked over when it comes to fishing glasses ... But I've been using them for over 7 years now and really cant say enough about them .. the other shades i have used in the past were the smith action optics ,, they are really nice too .. offer really good polarization and mainly are made for skiers and snowboarders but they work really nice on the water too .. Costas are a good option too ,, i have no experience with them .. But i hear good things about them .. so there are some really good options out there ..
  18. this really is just more of an awareness post ,, we have some noobies on the forums every year .. so every couple years i like to pull this up as a reminder to some who may not be protecting their eyes .. also I've been looking into the Oakley angling series of sunglasses aside from basic pic and info on their webpage i really couldn't find much info on them .. so i wanted to do a lil review just to help out anyone who may have been thinking of these and just couldn't find enough info to pull the trigger .. That being said no i wouldent wanna take a junebug to the lense LOL ,, but better that than a black eye ..
  19. Hey guys just picked up a pair of oakley angling spec shades .. wow .. thats all i can say .. I dont wanna go to deep into the reasons why you should protect your irreplaceable eyes .. there are 3 main reasons you should have a good pair of polar shades .. 1) they reduce eyestrain ,, if your on the water for long periods of time you must protect your eyes .. 2) keep hooks away from your naked eyes , self explanatory 3) filter out damaging rays from the sun .. so you can see the main reasons you need to protect you vision and eyes ...the rest of the benefits are just bonus .. here is a review of my oakleys i know its not the greatest review ( its my 1st review ) .. but i couldent find any info on these glasses ( so i guess i had to do a lil review ) just to try and help out .. again this is my 1st video edit / review / youtube vid .. so go easy on me LOL .. check em out they are really nice ...
  20. i believe the issue here may be location and bait presentation .. since your on the shore your choices of areas to fish are much more confined .. i agree with Darren small baits mainly plastics .. i love fishing a senko when on shore they just plain catch fish .. good luck , fish slow if its cold ..
  21. bolth are great sticks ... witch one feels better to you is the question ,,, we cant answer that for you ....
  22. ok so if you get better feel of whats on the bottom ... then wouldent you get a better ideal of where your bites are coming from ?? for instance if you bounce a toungston of a log there is no doubt that it was a log and you get bit ... would you wanna fish more logs or timber ... bottom line here toungston offers more postitives than negs and is a better materal than lead ... if you chose to fish lead by all means fish it ... for me there is no other choice than toungston ... i like knowing where im geting bit and on what structure they are on ... i like knowing my weight if compact and will come through cover easier ... i like the feel toungston offers when structure fishing ... i believe toungston is for the guy that really wants to dial into the bite or the guy that really wants to understand what structure he is getting bit on ... also lets no forget if you break of a toungston weight your not leaving a chunk of lead on the bottom of the lake ...
  23. there is no doubt in my mind ... tru tungston is the way to go ... you get so much better feel .... and when pitching or flipping thats really what you need ,, IMO ...
