The $170 cast
see what happened here is ,,, the store took your broken rod and your 20 bucks sent it in and had the rod replaced .... st croix doesnt want there rods exchanged over the counter ( for what ever reason ) ... they want you to send the rod to them ,,, they do charge 20 bucks ( for return shipping of the new rod ) .... they dont charge any difference for a newer modle ... i know this because i had 2 legened elites that i broke over the coarse of 3 seasons ,,, i was just too busy to send them in ( lazy to be honest ) ... i ended up sending them in together ,,, they asked me to send 20 bucks for the return shipping ... 3 days later there was a tube on my porch ,, the new brown legeneds ... so think of it this way ,,, the store saved you ... why do i say this well ... you didnt have to pay shipping charges to send a tube to WI .. last time i sent rods in it costed me well over 20 bucks ,,, then factor in the 20 for return shipping ,,, my over all costs were over 40 bucks ... so you did well ... i understand its a pain when a rod breaks and you have to deal with warrentys .... ive delt with st croix for years now ,, they really do take care of there customers ... thats why i stick around ...

Jig Fishing Question
you may be getting bites and just not noticing them .... i use to get bites all the time ,, i just never felt them till the jig was spit out ... for instance if you cast a jig out you really have to watch the water depth ... if your fishing the jig in 10 ft of water and it seems like the jig olny fell through 4 ft ,, set the hook .... you really have to fish a jig with the rod ... you also want to keep the line semi tight almost always ,, even when the lure is falling through the water ... insted of hopping a jig on a slack line ,,, you want to use the rod to lift and drop the jig ... as you drop use your reel to pick up slack line ,, this will insure your line is tight .... you will feel bites ... now the color ,,, as a general rule i like watermelon ,, bluegill ,, or pumpkin colors for clear water ,, sunny days ,, little to no wind ... once the wind or clouds pick up ,, ill switch to black and blue or black ... that being said i dont worry about color too much ... jigs really catch fish ... so i always feel i will catch one when im fishing a jig regaurdless of color ... ;D also in clear water make long casts or pitches ,,, fish can be spooky in clear water

Mattlures not running right?
the retrieve may be the proble ... however ive been fishing matts baby bass series for a while ,,, these baits do need to be boiled some times ... the plastic is soft so if the bait was shipped in any heat ( like summer months ) the bait may need a dip in boiling water ... get a pot of water and bring to a boil .... tie a 2 ft peice of line to the bait ... grab the line and put the gill in the boiling water for 1-2 mins. DO NOT GET THE EYES IN THE BOILING WATER ,,, just the tail and rear of the bait just below the eyes .... take the bait and hang the string so the bait can hang dry/cool ... let the bait cool for a while before handling the bait ... when you heat the bait you will reset the bait to the way it was outta the mold ... this works great i boil most of my baits just to insure they run true when im on the water ... if you were burning this bait slow that retrieve down ,,, do this and you will be ready to catch a hog ...

8-13 on a swimbait today!!!
see all that red in that basses mouth ,, more on the lips ... a guy told me when you catch a bass that has a red in the lips and mouth ,,, its a sign that the bass has been smashing the baitfish ... im not sure how true that is ,,, but you did catch that fish on a gill bait ... looks like you were fishing what that bass was looking for ,,, nice one ... i have to go soulth or to cally in serch of these giant bass ...

Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill: Ultimate Fishing Experience
1st great bass ,,, a hogg for sure ... now depending on how bad the rip is ... you should be able to fixx it easy ... can you see where the hook was molded ??? if so put the hook back in its slot ... get a lighter zippo and a paper clip ,,, un bend the paper clip so you have a nice straight peice ... lite the liter and set it on the table ( a gas stove will work too ) .... heat up the clip not too hot but fairly hott ... slide the hot clip through the rip ( take it slow ) make sure the gill is coming together even on bolth sides ... once you run the clip through hold the gill together ... then let it cool ,,, this works my friend ... i have a baby bass ive mended 3 different times ... ohh let it cool for an hour or so ... then boil a pot of water ,, once the water is boiling good ... tie a 2 foot peice of line to the gill ... hold the line and put the gill in the water ... olny up to the eyes ,, dont get the eyes in the boiling water ... 2 mins or less let air cool ,,,. hang the bait by that peice of line and let cool in the air ... this will reset that plastic ... your bait will swim straight ... make sure nothing touches the bait as it cools ... there is some work involved but it will save that gill ... good luck ..

St. Croix's ICAST offerings are up on TT...
im really excited to see the new legened extremes ... these rods look killer ... i have read that the ltb rods were tip heavy ,,, mine seem to ballance out fine ... keep in mind i use all zillion reels ( 8oz pluse ) so a heavier reel will effect the ballance point ... i do see where a ltb 7ft rod with a daiwa steeze would be a tip heavy rod .... i wonder how changing out the eyes to recoils will affect this rod ... recoils are liter in weight so to add recoils would get some weight off the tip ... i also wonder about the new sc 6 graphite ,,, and the blank its self ?????? we will see i plan on getting a few of these rods ...

St. Croix's ICAST offerings are up on TT...
Jeff ,, please keep in mind these mojo bass rods were designed with young tourney anglers in mind ... the ideal was to offer a teck specific rod to the younger guys ,,, at a price they could afford ... in essence the mojo bass rods are premieres .... the split grips and red blanks do look nice ,,, however i still wish they would have built the mojo line on the scIII ( avid ) blank .... and left the sc11 ( premiere ) blanks alone ... the sc II isnt a bad blank but i feel the scIII would have been the better blank .... eighter way it was smart to make a cheaper verson of the ltb rods ,,, in esence this is what they did ...

Jiggin for bass
the hard part is detecting the strikes .... this takes a while to learn ... the best advice i can give you ,,, use your rod to fish the jig .... never fish a jig on a slack line or with your reel .... you have to learn how to control the jig with your rod ,, while keeping that line as tight as possiable ....this way you will feel all your strikes ...

Zara Spook Pooch

Dean Rojas SPRO PRO Bronzeye Frog, or the Dean Rojas SPRO PRO Bronzeye Frog Jr??
i dont like the jr ... i have 3 problems with the jr .... weight its too lite ,,, for some reason the jr takes water on ,,, and i prefer to catch big bass the jr tends to catch some small bass ... this is just IMO ,, of coarse ... but i buy the regular spro every time ... as for walking the frog .... dont cut legs ,,and the spro is great at walking ... take your time and you will get it ... remember you are useing braid and heavy braid ( you should be ) .. make sure that frog has ample slack in the line before you start snapping away ... remember with mono there is some stretch so fishing a spook with mono will be forgiving ,,, with the braid however you really have to make sure you have a slack line befor you start your presentation stick with it you will get it ... ;D

Curado E, Who's Getting One???

Curado E, Who's Getting One???
i was wondering this myself .... if you were to upgrade the berrings ,,, would the new citica out preform the new cu .... after all its not the number of berrings its the quality of berrings ,, right ... the olny real difference other than color is the 2 berrings ,, right ... ohh and that little bit of weight ,,, but who would even notice that ??? i was just thinking about this myself too ...

Whats YALL's favorite Grubs?
all grubs named are good ... but there is one grub that will almost always out fish the others .... and that grub is the chompers twin tailed grub .... and these suckers stink .... but the bass eat them up ... they out fish the gycb grub almost every time ....i will warn you tho ,, before you stuff your rods in the truck or rod lockers remove the grub from the hook /// that stink will linger for a long time ....
